Probably most of us do not agree with the situation in the Middle East and with what is happening there. The question is, What can the Young Greens do about it? It is understandable that we cannot compete with the top political demands, but I believe that our Federation, FYEG as a whole, could initiate a discussion forum between Young people in the “West” and the “Middle East”. Ghandi said, “We must be the change we wish to see in the world”.
The situation in the Middle East is horrific. Different groups and people are abusing their political, economic and religious power in order to fulfil their personal interests. Young people are taught there that the Western civilization (culture, society) is bad and that It has to be destroyed and so on. Many young people are easily influenced by this. They go and fight for those words without knowing that there is some other “truth”.
Therefore, the FYEG should begin the change we would like to see in the world. The Federation must talk with those young people and initiate a certain discussion forum which would bring us to a closer understanding of our cultures, societies, etc. where we could share and discuss our opinions, issues and so on. I know that it is not easy, but we can try. If you are interested in building the cultural bridge, which Zdenek has begun, contact the editor.
